Soquel has an idealistic small town feel with a variety of residential homes sprinkled amongst piney woods. Along Soquel Dr. and in the surrounding area, you’ll find coffee shops such as the local favorite, the Ugly Mug, a great variety of both high end and casual restaurants, a brewery, a picturesque white Church, and a collection of antique stores. Soquel Vineyards and Bargetto Winery feature handcraft wines, made from local vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Both also offer tastings, events, and wine-clubs.
Soquel has no shortage of natural beauty. Land of the Medicine Buddha, a well attended Buddhist center surrounded by miles of redwood-covered hiking and biking trails is just a short drive from the center of town. Anna Jean Cummings park sits above Soquel High and includes soccer fields, a track, and a small patch of green area for jogging, hiking and walking pets. Soquel Demonstration State Forest provides close to 2,300 acres of wooded area where visitors enjoy hiking, bicycling, picnicking and horseback riding.
In 2016, the estimated median household income in Soquel was $85,989 and 37.9% of residents over 25 had a bachelor’s degree or higher.
Soquel Schools
