Davenport Real Estate

Davenport is the first town in Santa Cruz County that visitors will reach when travelling south on Highway 1 from San Francisco. Just 9 miles from Santa Cruz city, this small town with sweeping views of the rugged coastline features beautiful seaside attractions such as Davenport Landing, Shark Fin Cove, and Panther Beach. It’s visitors and inhabitants enjoy a Mediterranean climate characterized by cool, wet winters, and warm, mostly dry summers. Like much of the coastal-bay area, fog and low overcast are common in the mornings and nights.

Some of the freshest strawberries in Santa Cruz come from Davenport’s Swanton Berry Farm. In the warmer seasons, the fruit and veggie stand and U-Pick days at the farm provide for fun and healthy activities for families and friends. You’ll find a few homey and delicious restaurants and bars as you drive down highway one, including the Davenport Roadhouse Restaurant and Inn, Beach Street Cafe, and Whale City Bakery Bar & Grill.

Life is quiet and slow and the real estate follows suite – properties do not come on the market in this area often. Only twenty minutes to Santa Cruz and one hour from San Jose, Davenport offers a quiet retreat without excessive seclusion.

In 2016, the estimated median household income in Davenport was $77,613 and 24.9% of residents over 25 had a bachelor’s degree or higher. In 2010, the population was 408 residents.
